AERODYNAMIC OPTIMIZATION OF A ROAD HELMET
Louis Garneau had an objective: to develop the most aerodynamic road helmet for Tour de France 2012.
Lx Sim expertise in aerodynamics via CFD studies allowed us to understand the behavior of the air around a standard road helmet and identify improvement opportunities. Several competitors helmets were also studied for benchmarking.
Our role was to help the client in interpreting the results and bring ideas for aerodynamic improvement.
CFD SIMULATION OF THE PROTECTION LEVEL OFFERED BY A MUDGUARD FOR BIKES
Assess and validate the protection level offered by the addition of a piece of plastic equipment (mudguard) on a bike. This component aims at reducing the dirtiness that a cyclist sustains when he passes through puddles or mud that spray up from the tires.
DEVELOPMENT OF THE GALLIUM PRO 2014 BICYCLE FRAME
Argon 18 designs ultra-high-end bikes. The diversity of their concept offers solutions to many types of cyclists.
Leader in their field, Argon 18 wanted to improve their bikes’ performance. Lx Sim mandate was to provide an engineering support on the development of the Gallium Pro 2014 carbon fiber bike frame to deliver a product as light as possible while meeting the customer requirements on the manufacturing and stiffness level.
